Artificial orange blossom made from wax was once a very important decoration in the Briere area of Loire Atlantique. The flowers were made into a crown which was worn by the women on their wedding day. After the ceremony, the flowers were preserved under a glass dome, on a purple cushion. Some of them are still in existence today, even though plastic replaced the traditional wax in the 1960s.
