Melusine

Melusine was a beautiful fairy who turned herself into a mortal woman to marry a human man. The legend goes that she insisted that her husband promise never to follow her one day a week. When he spied on her and discovered that she was transformed for that day into a giant snake from the waist down, he was horrified, and she fled the house, never to return.
