L Ile Behuard

L’ile Behuard is a village on an island in the centre of the Loire, downstream of Angers in the Maine et Loire department. The island was originally a place of pilgrimage, probably due to the extreme dangers of navigating the river at this point, and there is an interesting 15th century church here, built on a rocky outcrop. The river is nowadays crossed by a double bridge, which to the north leads to Savennieres.
